This was a recent closet organizing project in Hammond, LA, where we helped our client declutter and organize his daughter’s bedroom and closet to give her a fresh start before she came home.
Project Details: This closet and bedroom organizing project took two professional organizers approximately five hours to complete.
During that time, we helped declutter the clothing, organize the closet and dressers, create additional storage, organize the shoes, pack up donations, and take the donated items to a local donation center after the project.
The Goal: Give Her Bedroom and Closet a Fresh Start

There were piles of both clean and dirty clothes throughout the bedroom and closet, along with several laundry baskets of clothing that needed to be sorted through. In addition to what you can see in the before photo, there were another four or five laundry baskets of clothes that were part of the project.
Our client wanted help going through everything, getting the bedroom back in order, and creating a better system for his daughter to keep her clothes organized going forward.
Our Closet Decluttering Process
First, we helped our client declutter and go through all the clothing and decide what to keep, donate, or throw away. With so many clothes to work through, decluttering and sorting everything was a big part of the project.
Once we knew what was staying, we categorized the clothing by type so similar items were kept together. This also made it easier to determine what belonged in the closet, dressers, or additional storage.

Organizing the Closet, Clothes, and Shoes
After everything was sorted, we started organizing the bedroom and clothes into the closet. We hung clothes that needed to be hung and neatly folded the rest in the dressers.
We also brought in clear storage bins for categories that didn’t need daily access, including winter clothing and other seasonal items. This made it easy for his daughter to see what was inside and pull out a bin when she needed something.
We finished by organizing her shoes along the bottom of the closet and making sure everything had a designated place.
The Finished Closet and Bedroom
By the end of the project, the piles of clothing were gone, the bedroom floor was cleared, and the closet and dressers were organized.
His daughter had her bedroom back and a much easier system for keeping up with her clothes. Her dad also felt better knowing everything had been gone through, organized, and was ready for her when she came home.

After the project and session were finished, we packed up all the items they decided to donate and took everything to a local donation center, so they didn’t have to worry about dropping it off themselves.
