There are many reasons you or a loved one may need help decluttering. You may be preparing to move or downsize, feeling overwhelmed by years of belongings, or simply ready for a fresh start in your home.
We work alongside you to go through your belongings, decide what you’d like to keep, donate, or get rid of, and handle much of the physical work that comes with decluttering.
Once we’ve gone through everything, we can also organize what you’re keeping so your space is easier to use, and you can find what you need.

Decluttering can involve a lot more physical work than people realize.
Our organizers work alongside you to handle the physical work: getting everything out, sorting through it, and putting your space back together.
Depending on your project, you may work with one organizer or a team. We can help with a single space, several rooms, or your entire home over multiple sessions.
Hands-On Help Going Through Your Belongings
Whether it’s a closet, kitchen, pantry, bedroom, home office, garage, or several areas throughout your home, we’ll work through the space with you one area at a time.
We’ll bring boxes and trash bags for sorting and help pull everything out so you can see what you have. We can handle the more physical parts of the project, including reaching higher shelves, bringing items down, moving things around, and gathering everything that needs to leave the space.
Deciding What to Keep, Donate, or Get Rid Of
You decide what stays and what goes. We’re there to make the decluttering process easier.
As we work through your belongings, we’ll help you sort items into categories and guide you when you’re not sure what to do with something. There’s no expectation that you need to get rid of a certain amount.
The goal is to help you make decisions you’re comfortable with and create a home that works better for you.
Donation Drop-Off & Trash
Once you’ve decided what you’re ready to let go of, we can help remove it from your home.
Items that can be reused can be taken to a local donation center. We can also help gather trash and place it in your trash bins or, when appropriate, set items out for collection.
Organizing What You’re Keeping
Decluttering is only part of the process. Once we’ve gone through everything, we’ll help organize what you’re keeping so the space is functional again.
We’ll put items back in a way that makes sense for you and your home, with frequently used belongings easy to access. The goal is for your space to not only look better when we’re finished, but to be easier for you to use every day.

How Our Decluttering Process for Seniors Works
1. Tell Us About Your Project
Getting started is simple. You can call us at 504-238-4100 or fill out our online contact form.
You’ll typically speak with Olivia Parks, owner of My Professional Organizer.
She’ll ask about the areas you’d like to declutter, what you’d like to accomplish, your timeline, priorities, and budget.
2. Send Us Photos of Your Space
We’ll ask you to send us a few photos of the areas you’d like help with. This gives us a much better idea of your project’s size and how much hands-on help you may need.
You don’t need to clean or organize anything before taking the photos. We need to see the space as it currently is so we can make the right recommendation.
3. We’ll Recommend a Session Option
After learning more about your project and reviewing your photos, we’ll recommend a session option based on what you’re hoping to accomplish.
A smaller project may only need one organizer and one session. Larger projects may benefit from multiple organizers or several sessions. We’ll talk through the options with you before you decide how you’d like to move forward.
4. We Declutter With You
On your scheduled project day, your organizer or organizing team will come to your home with the basic supplies needed to get started.
We’ll work alongside you, one area at a time, helping you sort through your belongings while we handle much of the physical work.
