Decluttering Before Downsizing
Many seniors choose to declutter before moving so they have fewer items to pack, move, and unpack.
As part of our decluttering services, we’ll work alongside you to sort through your belongings and help determine what you’d like to keep, donate, recycle, or throw away.
We bring boxes and trash bags and can help with any area of the home, including bedrooms, closets, kitchens, garages, offices, and storage spaces.
Our goal isn’t to tell you what to get rid of. Our role is simply to help guide the process and make it easier to decide what belongings make sense for your next chapter.
Senior Packing Services
Many clients hire us to help with packing after the decluttering process is complete.
As part of our packing services, we help pack all areas of the home (or as much as you’d like help with packing) and handle much of the physical labor.
Rather than simply placing items into boxes, we organize belongings carefully and pack similar items together to make unpacking easier later.
We can also assist with packing supplies and help create a packing plan that keeps the move organized from start to finish.
Unpacking and Organizing After the Move
Once you’ve arrived at your new home, our team can help get you settled in.
As part of our unpacking and organizing services, we’ll unpack boxes, put items away, create organized systems, and help make your new space feel like home.
Whether you’re moving into a smaller home, apartment, retirement community, or assisted living facility, we focus on creating systems that are practical and easy to maintain.

How do I book your senior downsizing services?
The first step is to hop on your free phone consultation with Olivia Parks, the owner of My Professional Organizer. During the consultation, she’ll discuss your goals, timeline, current living situation, and the type of support you’re looking for. From there, she’ll recommend a plan based on your needs and provide session recommendations.
Can you help my parents downsize their home?
Yes. Many of our clients are adult children helping their parents prepare for a move, transition to a smaller home, or simply reduce the amount of belongings they have. We can work directly with your parents, keep you updated throughout the process, and provide as much or as little support as needed.
How long does the senior downsizing process take?
Every downsizing project is different. Some clients only need help with a few rooms, while others need support throughout the entire downsizing and moving process. During your phone consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and timeline and provide a realistic estimate of how long the project may take.
Do you help with taking items for donation?
Yes. As we work through the downsizing process, we can help identify items for donation and remove approved donations at the end of organizing sessions whenever possible. We also some bring boxes and donation bags to help make the process easier.
Will I be working with just one organizer or a team of organizers?
That depends on the size of the project and your timeline. Some downsizing projects only require one organizer, while larger projects may benefit from a team. During your phone consultation, we’ll recommend the option we believe will work best for your situation.
How much do senior downsizing services cost?
Downsizing costs are different for everyone. It really comes down to how much help you’d like, what you’d like help with, and the budget you’d like to stay within.
Some clients hire us to help with the entire downsizing process, including decluttering, sorting, packing, unpacking, and organizing their new home. Others may only need help with a specific part of the process, such as unpacking and organizing after a move.
Because every project is different, pricing can vary significantly based on the size of the home, the amount of belongings being downsized, and the level of support you’re looking for.
Most of our downsizing clients invest between $800 and $4,500+, but there is no one-size-fits-all price. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals, timeline, and budget and recommend an approach that makes sense for your situation.
